What are the system recommendations for listening to XM Radio Online?
XM Radio Online is available to both PC and Mac users. Different system configurations will yield different results. We recommend the following system configurations:

Processor: Pentium III 1 GHz
Memory: Minimum 256 MB RAM, minimum 64 MB Video RAM
Operating System: Windows XP
Sound: Soundcard w/ speakers or headphones
Additional Software: Windows Media Player 10, Flash 7
Browser Compatibility: Internet Explorer 6+, Firefox 1.0+, Netscape 7+ (Opera not supported); cookies must be enabled
Mac:

Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) or higher, 64 MB Video RAM

How do I use the XM Radio Online player on my Macintosh computer?

XM Radio Online supports Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) or later with installed Windows Media® Components for QuickTime by Flip4Mac. Click here for more information about this FREE download.

Although we don't support running the XM Radio Online player on older versions of Mac OS X, we have had reports of success by installing Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X. Click here for more information about this FREE download.


Can I listen to XM Radio Online on a Macintosh, Linux or other non-Microsoft environments?
XM Radio Online is only designed to operate in Microsoft Windows and Macintosh environments.


Why am I receiving a message stating, "Due to inactivity, you will need to sign in again to listen to XM Radio Online?"
If you receive this message, it may be because your browser is not set to accept cookies. A cookie is a small, secure text file used by websites to improve their users' experience. Please follow the instructions below to set your browser to accept cookies from XM Radio Online.

Accepting cookies in Internet Explorer 6.x
At the top of your browser on the Task Bar:
  1. Choose Tools
  2. Then choose Internet Options
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. The default setting is medium, which will allow you to accept cookies. To change this setting, move the slider to determine which setting you prefer. If your setting has been set to Custom, click the Advanced button and choose Accept Cookies.
Accepting cookies in Netscape Communicator 7.x
At the top of your browser on your Task Bar:
  1. Click Edits
  2. Then click Preferences
  3. Click Privacy & Security
  4. Set your options to allow cookies.
Accepting cookies in Mozilla Firefox 1.x
At the top of your browser on your Task Bar:

What type of Internet connection do I need to enjoy XM Radio Online?
We recommend using a broadband connection (cable or DSL) with XM Radio Online to get the best listening experience. Dial-up users can still use our service and listen to our channels, but they may experience listening interruptions due to Internet congestion at lower connection speeds.


Will XM Radio Online work with pop-up blocker software?
Some pop-up blockers may prevent you from using XM Radio Online, connecting to our servers, or even prevent artist/album information from displaying in the player. Please consult your pop-up blocker software's Help section configure your settings to work properly with XM Radio Online.


Do I have to change the privacy/security settings in my browser in order to use XM Radio Online?
Certain privacy/security settings in browsers may affect your ability to use XM Radio Online. If you are experiencing problems with using XM Radio Online, adjusting these settings may fix these problems. Please consult your web browser's (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc.) Help section for assistance.


Will personal firewall software interfere with the operation of XM Radio Online?
Certain firewall software, such as those from Norton and McAfee, may interfere with your enjoyment of XM Radio Online. You may need to adjust your firewall settings in order to use XM Radio Online. Please consult your firewall or security software's (McAfee, Norton, etc.) Help section for assistance.


Can I connect through a corporate firewall or proxy server?
If you are using XM Radio Online in a corporate environment, you can get firewall/ proxy server information by contacting your company's IT/ Support department or you may get this information from Microsoft Internet Explorer by following these steps:

  • Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  • In the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options"
  • Click on the "Connections" tab
  • Click on the "LAN Settings" button. This will bring up the "LAN Settings Dialog Box".
You need to note the "Address" and "Port" listed under the "Proxy server" portion of the dialog box. You will use this information to add the proxy server address and port. This information is given to you by your system administrator.
