Why do I keep getting signed out of XM Radio Online?
If you are getting signed out of XM Radio Online, it may be because someone else is using your account from another computer. If this doesn't solve the problem, then visit our Contact Us page and select the "XM Radio Online Technical Issue" option.

I'm signed in to XM Radio Online and I have the player open and I've selected a channel, why can't I hear any sound?
If after signing in, launching the player, and selecting a channel, you still don't hear XM Radio Online, please try the following:

  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. Check your speaker connections and your computer's Sounds and Multimedia settings, including the volume level.

Why does my player stop playing after a few seconds?
If your player stops after less than 30 seconds of playback, you may be experiencing the effects of having a slow Internet connection or high Internet traffic with your Internet Service Provider. This problem should only be temporary.

What should I do if the player freezes and does not respond to any user input?
On a Windows computer, you can use CONTROL-ALT-DELETE to show the list of applications running on your computer. Select the Windows Media player or your web browser and click "END TASK." This will stop the player, after which you can restart from the http://listen.xmradio.com page. We have worked hard to make XM Radio Online compatible with the most common operating systems, web browsers and computer hardware. If this should become a frequent occurrence, please let us know by visiting our Contact Us page and selecting the "XM Radio Online Technical Issue" option.

Why does my player say that it is "buffering?"
Buffering is the process of receiving music data a few seconds ahead of what is currently playing, for the purpose of providing consistent playback. Buffering can also happen when your computer is having problems receiving a continuous stream of audio. If you are experiencing constant buffering, click on "Settings" button and select the "Low Bandwidth Usage" option. If you are using a Broadband (DSL, Cable, LAN) connection and are experience buffering, it is probably due to high Internet or network traffic with your Internet Service Provider and should be temporary.

My music keeps skipping/cutting out. How do I fix it?
If your player is skipping, it could be because you're trying to listen to XM Radio Online at a higher bandwidth than your current Internet connection will support. You can change to a lower bandwidth by clicking the "Settings" button on your player.

If you're surfing to other web sites or pages while listening to XM Radio Online, that could reduce the amount of bandwidth available to stream music to your computer. You can also try quitting other applications which might be running on your computer.

What is the "Discover & Download" link in my XM Radio Online player?
